tThe 9th Annual Thanksgiving Run and Walk Against Hunger, November 28, is expected to draw 5,000 participants to the Stockton Ports Baseball Park. (Fremont and Lincoln Streets in downtown Stockton.)
Scenic, flat and fast 5k Run and Walk and 10k run begin and end at the Stockton Ports Ballpark. The course proceeds along both sides of the Stockton deep Water Channel past the Weber Point Event Center, returning and finishing back at the Ballpark. Walkers have their own scenic waterfront course along the promenade.
Participants are also urged to bring canned foods, paper and plastic bags to the event. All proceeds benefit the Emergency Food Bank and Family Services of Stockton/San Joaquin. For the 5k Run/5k Walk/10k Run, pay the fee of $35 if postmarked Oct. 31, 2013, $40 starting Nov. 1 2013 through Race Day. Kids 1/4 Mile Run (kids 9 and under); $15 through Oct. 31, 2013, $20 starting Nov. 1 through race day.
Pre-registration and packet pick up will be available (highly recommended) at Fleet Feet Sports-Stockton, 277 Lincoln Center (behind Podesto’s Market) on Nov. 25, 26 and 27 from 10:00 am until 6:00 pm. Special; bring in non-perishable food to Fleet Feet during this time and help us stuff the Brooks car! You will receive a 15% discount on your Fleet Feet Sports Stockton purchases for the day. All food collected will go to the Emergency Food Bank!
*Registration and packet pick up also available on the day of the event at the Stockton Ballpark, 404 W. Fremont St., Stockton, CA, from 6:30 AM to 8:30 AM.
Rest stops will be provided on the route with plenty of drinks. For the walk, young children (with an adult), strollers, wagons and handicapped walkers are welcome; all should start in the rear. For safety, NO dogs, bicycles, skateboards, or roller blades on the course, please. Strollers for kids and wheelchairs are WELCOME, but please line up behind all runners!
Results are then posted on www.onyourmarkevents.com
and winners can either pick up their awards at Fleet Feet, Stockton or, upon request, they will be mailed. Awards will be for the timed 5k and 10k runs, for the top three places in each age group (12 and under, 13 to 18, 19 to 29, 30 to 39, 40 to 49, 50 to 59, 60 to 69 and 70 and over, male and female). Overall M/F 10k winners receive Brooks jackets. All kids’ run participants (9 and under) will receive ribbons at the event.
