Health Plan of San Joaquin (HPSJ) and San Joaquin County Human Services Agency (HSA) have released a joint Request For Application (RFA) to fund local organizations and groups to get the word out to those who will be newly eligible to enroll in California’s Medi-Cal program. Effective January 1, 2014, more people will qualify for Medi-Cal because of a federally funded expansion of the State’s Medi-Cal program.
Expanded Medi-Cal eligibility guidelines will allow an estimated 35,000 San Joaquin County residents to qualify, with those newly eligible including childless adults, individuals with assets (savings, property and vehicles will no longer be considered), and higher income levels. Coverage may be as soon as January 1, 2014, and HPSJ and HSA are partnering to offer local groups and organizations funding support to reach area residents who may newly qualify.
Funding will be available through a competitive RFA and will allow applicants to apply for funding support in amounts ranging from $5,000 to $25,000 for outreach to newly eligible Medi-Cal applicants. An optional informational webinar will be hosted on Friday, November 1, 2013 at 9:00 A.M. with a mandatory Intent to Apply form due on Friday, November 8, 2013 at 4:00 P.M. The application is due on Friday, November 15, 2013 by 12 noon. The RFA information can be accessed by sending an email to email@example.com.
