City of Stockton Accepting Applications for Port Commission Interviews

The City of Stockton will be conducting interviews to fill a seat on the Port Commission on Wednesday, May 8, 2019, at 4 p.m. To be considered for appointment, those interested must submit an online application by Friday, May 3, 2019. A link to the application is available at www.stocktonca.gov/bcvacancies.

The Port Commission is an eight-member Commission that exercises general supervision over the Port of Stockton by adopting general rules and regulations that in its judgment will best promote the interests of the Port, as established under State law. Due to a resignation, there is currently one vacancy. The term of service is four years and will begin immediately upon appointment by the Stockton City Council and end on January 15, 2022. There is no term limit. Members meet twice a month on the first and third Monday; there is no remuneration.  

To qualify, applicants must have resided in the Port District at least one year prior to appointment (Harbors & Navigation Code Section 6244); or consistent with City General Plan boundaries, plus a one-half mile strip on either side of the Stockton Ship Channel from the Port to Disappointment Slough.

City offices are open Monday through Thursday, 7:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m., and every other Friday, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. City offices are closed every other Friday and on observed holidays.
