City’s Community Services Department Announces Free Wi-Fi at All City Recreation Centers

Wi-Fi is now available at all five City of Stockton recreation centers for customers with Wi-Fi enabled laptops or smart devices. This expanded Wi-Fi access allows more users to connect to the internet at no cost using their own technology devices, giving them the freedom to be anywhere in the recreation centers while they read or research online.

“This new wireless service is another way the Community Services Department is dedicating Measure M’s Strong Communities funds to enhance recreation and library services in the City of Stockton,” said Deputy Director Stephen Jiang. “By transforming our recreation centers into Wi-Fi community hotspots, we improve our ability for more people to easily connect to library and recreation resources online.”

Expanded Wi-Fi helps increase the ease of accessing health and fitness tools, online class registration, learning databases, tutoring aids, and even student access to school resources for online homework assignments.

Locations providing the new Wi-Fi capabilities include:

·      Arnold Rue Community Center, 5758 Lorraine Ave.

·      Oak Park Senior Center, 730 E. Fulton St.

·      Seifert Community Center, 128 W. Benjamin Holt Drive

·      Stribley Community Center, 1760 E. Sonora St.

·      Van Buskirk Community Center, 734 Houston Ave.

Increased bandwidth and hotspot accessibility are provided through Measure M’s Strong Communities Initiative – a dedicated, special transactions and use tax approved by Stockton voters in November 2016 and specifically dedicated to City recreation and library programs, services and facilities.
