The City of Stockton has been selected as a grant recipient from Niagara Bottling and the National Recreation and Park Association (NRPA). With the grant, the City of Stockton is installing new playground equipment in Eden Park, 924 N. El Dorado Street. The playground is scheduled to be completed and a community celebration will be held on Wednesday, May 17, 2017, at 3:30 p.m.
Opportunities to play outdoors in community spaces like Eden Park are vital to connecting children to the natural environment and encourage physical activity. In Stockton, this new playground will invite children of all ages to be active and spend time outdoors.
“Parks are so important to each neighborhood,” shared Public Works Director Gordon MacKay. “Our community parks are places for children and families to exercise, be together as a family, meet neighbors, and hold community events. This is such a great location for the new equipment. We are grateful to Niagara and NRPA for making this possible.”
“Parks are places where everyone can go to be active and have fun,” said Kellie May, NRPA Director of Health and Wellness. “This project will provide new opportunities for children and families to enjoy the outdoors.”
“Niagara Cares is committed to programs that support vulnerable children and families in communities where our team members live and can make an impact,” said Kristen Venick, Director of Niagara Cares Corporate Giving. “It’s exciting to continue our partnership with National Recreation and Park Association and help another local community re-build Eden Park, providing children with a fun and safe outdoor play area.”
