Honored guest of Art Expressions of San Joaquin - Sister Gloria Heese, RSM

You are cordially invited to an uplifting evening of extraordinary experiential live entertainment. Renowned mine artist, artist, and innovative communicator Sister Gloria (Sister Gloria Heese, RSM), will be the honored guest of Art Expressions of San Joaquin (AESJ) this Friday, August 9, from 5-7 PM at the County Administration Building, 44 N. San Joaquin Street, Stockton, CA.

The event is open to the public at no extra cost. Now in her 70’s Sister Gloria joined with Sr. Janel Sawatzki, RSM, to combine silent gestures (MIME) and spoken words (INK) to create Mime-Ink (www.mime-ink.com), “to deepen meaning, touch hearts and promote reflection.”

Well loved and admired, Sister Gloria creates experiential, participatory, creative, reflective activities and rituals that foster personal growth. With a BA in Music Education, an MA in Theology, and decades of service in education and organizational leadership (administration directorships), Sister Gloria studied at the Samuel Avital at Le Centre Du Silence in Boulder, Colorado wherein she began to innovatively combine the arts of dance and mime to create inspiring communication. Sister Gloria states, “Now being able to mime and give retreats as well as having time for art is like ‘finding my bliss’ (as Joseph Campbell advises) and using more fully the gifts God has given me.”

As an artist, Sister Gloria kept an artistic study and inspirational journal for years before beginning night study at a local college in 1992. She attributes her watercolor skills to the teachings of Lee Warner and Sandi Palmer while she credits Josifa Casey for her freer artistic expression. So successful are her outstanding artworks, Sister Gloria and Sr. Janel Sawatzki are able to minister locally, throughout the United States and in Ireland. “What I seek to express through my art is the beauty and wonder of creation.” - Sister Gloria Heese, RSM

This Friday marks the last multi-venue Year 2013 Stockton Summer Art Splash series event before the AESJ hosted 25-25-25 gala on September 13.
