Lincoln Center Open During Benjamin Holt Widening

The San Joaquin County Public Works Department will begin construction this summer to widen Benjamin Holt Drive, between Pacific Avenue and Gettysburg Place. The road will be closed for approximately 70 days, from June 9 to mid-August. Lincoln Center will remain open for business during this time and customers are encouraged to use alternate entrances, such as those on Pacific Avenue and Gettysburg Place.

Once completed, the project will include two lanes in each direction, a left-turn lane, curb, signal modifications, and drainage improvements. The county will also replace the landscape along both sides of Benjamin Holt Drive with Crepe Myrtle trees, shrubbery and hedges.

The project is being constructed to enhance traffic safety and operations and to meet future traffic demands by reducing congestion on Benjamin Holt Drive between Gettysburg Place and Pacific Avenue.

Although the construction will be an inconvenience, we know this project, upon completion, will help increase traffic to the area and Lincoln Center,” said Phil Johnson, President of Sims-Grupe Management, the General Partner for Lincoln Properties Limited, the partnership that owns Lincoln Center. “We hope the community will continue to support the 90-plus businesses located in Lincoln Center during the construction period. We are doing everything within our control to make the Center easily accessible during this time.”

The shopping center merchants have joined together to create fun, construction-themed promotions that will run through the 70 days the road will be closed. “We thought, why not have a little fun with this?” says Julie Van Noate, owner of Best Wishes, a gift and kitchen store located in the shopping center. “We would like to reward our customers who choose to shop with us during this time. With over 90 businesses and 800 employees in this center, we really need the community’s support!”.

Through the center’s “70 Days of Summer” promotion, customers will receive everything from discounts on dinners at participating restaurants to complimentary gift cards with store purchases. More information can be found online at lincolncentershops.com/construction.
