Pacific Field Hockey Names Team Captains For 2014

Pacific Field Hockey has designated its captains for the 2014 spring schedule as well as the following fall season, Head Coach Andy Smith announced Friday. Erica Gordon and Malia Robertson have been voted as team captains for the 38th season of Pacific Field Hockey by a vote of their peers.

Gordon, from Port Moody, British Columbia, will be a redshirt junior in the fall semester. The midfielder was a defensive leader for the Tigers in 2013, starting all 19 games and tallying five defensive saves. Since first seeing game action during the 2012 season, Gordon has appeared in 38 contests for the Orange and Black, including 24 starts.

Robertson, from San Diego, will be a senior in the fall semester. The midfielder appeared in 18 games for Pacific in 2013, starting and playing a vital role in four of Pacific's five victories during the season. Since joining Pacific as a freshman in 2011, Robertson has appeared in 51 contests, starting 31 times.

Smith commented on the team's nomination of Gordon and Robertson, "I am delighted that Erica and Malia were voted into this position by their peers.  They have been tremendous assets to this program over the last few years and it is fitting that they help lead us into a new era."
