Pacific Signs Alex Giannini For Fall 2014

University of the Pacific Men's Tennis Head Coach Ryan Redondo has announced the signing of Alex Giannini. He will join the Tigers in the fall for the 2014-15 season.

"I am really excited about Alex joining the Pacific Tiger tennis family," said Redondo. "Alex is a great person and will fit in very well with our program on and off the court.  I think Pacific is the perfect place for him.  His game is big and he has a lot of potential.  Alex is coming from a strong tennis program at Pepperdine and has competed against the best this past year, so with that should come a good amount of experience to add to the team.  It's going to be a lot of fun to work with him as we seem to already understand each other very well."

Giannini will join the Tigers as a sophomore after transferring from Pepperdine. Alex posted a 6-13 doubles record as a freshman, including a 5-11 tally in dual action. He was 0-4 in singles play. He played alongside five different teammates in doubles, seeing most time with Pedro Leme with a 4-4 record. Giannini reached the second round of the Pacific Coast Doubles Championship while playing with Tom Hill. Alex graduated from the Gorman Learning Center. He was a four-star recruit according to tennisrecruiting.com and was ranked as high as No. 57 by the recruiting website during his junior season.

"University of the Pacific provides the perfect blend of academics and athletics and I also wanted to be a part of an awesome group of guys and a phenomenal coaching staff," said Giannini.
