Sound Tigers, Islanders Make Roster Moves

The Thunder have had three players assigned to them while two make their way back to Bridgeport in the AHL from Stockton.

The Stockton Thunder, proud ECHL affiliate of the NHL’s New York Islanders and AHL’s Bridgeport Sound Tigers, have had three players assigned to them and two players recalled by their affiliates, Head Coach and Director of Hockey Operations Rich Kromm announced Tuesday.

Forward Alan Quine and defenseman Andrey Pedan have been assigned to Stockton from Bridgeport by the New York Islanders, while forward Mathieu Gagnon has been loaned to the Thunder by the Sound Tigers. In an additional move, the Islanders have reassigned forwards Matt Mangene and Joey Diamond to the Sound Tigers.

Gagnon, 21, returns to the Thunder where he has played most of the season. He had 3 points and was second on the team with 136 penalty minutes in 43 ECHL contests this season. The Montreal, Quebec native made his AHL debut and had 14 penalty minutes in seven games in his recent stint with Bridgeport.

Pedan, 21, played in five games with the Thunder in February. The 3rd round NHL draft pick by the Islanders in 2011 picked up six penalty minutes in those five contests. Pedan has 10 points in 28 games with the Bridgeport Sound Tigers this year.

Quine, 21, had 8 points in seven games with Stockton last month, and has posted 27 points in 61 games with Bridgeport. The Ottawa, Ontario native is in his first professional season after being drafted by the Islanders in the 6th round of last year’s NHL Entry Draft, after being initially drafted by Detroit in 2011.

Diamond, 24, and Mangene, 25, played in 11 and 6 games respectively in their time with the Thunder. Diamond posted 9 points on 1 goal and 8 assists while Mangene had 5 points on 1 goal and 4 assists.

The Stockton Thunder open up their defense of the Western Conference Championship title against the Ontario Reign in the 2014 Kelly Cup Playoffs. Game one of the series will be at Stockton Arena on Friday, April 18, at 7:30 p.m. The first 2,500 fans entering Stockton Arena will receive a Garet Hunt trading card.
