Stockton Ports Unveil Hall of Famer Celebrity Appearances

The Stockton Ports, class "A" affiliate of the 2012 American League West Division Champion Oakland Athletics are thrilled to unveil their 2013 Celebrity Appearances. Scheduled to appear this summer are Rollie Fingers on May 3rd, Gaylord Perry on July 13th and Orlando Cepeda on August 9th. These three National Baseball Hall of Fame members and Bay Area Legends are well known to Northern California and feature a collective four (4) World Series titles and 23 All-Star appearances. Each of these appearances will have the same time schedule for the celebrities.

Ports General Manager Luke Reiff "We as an organization worked tirelessly to secure celebrity appearances that fans would very excited about. No doubt about it, these Bay Area legends and Hall of Famers are phenomenal".

Rollie Fingers spent the majority of his playing career with the Oakland Athletics from 1968-1976. Fingers was a part of the Oakland Athletics' three consecutive World Series titles in 1972-1974. He was inducted into the National Baseball Hall of Fame in 1992. Rollie is widely known for defining the role as the modern day closer and for his iconic mustache. During his 18-year MLB career he amassed a 2.90 earned run average, 1,299 strikeouts and recorded 341 saves. His appearance is set for May 3rd.

Gaylord Perry debuted with the San Francisco Giants in 1962. He would eventually play for nine different teams during his 22-year MLB career. During his tenure he was selected to five All-Star games and is one of five players to have ever won the CY Young Award in both the American & National Leagues. He was selected to the Baseball Hall of Fame in 1991. His appearance at Banner Island Ballpark is set for July 13th.

Orlando Cepeda played 17 years in the Majors from 1958-1967. Cepeda was selected to 11 All-Star games and won the National League MVP for the St. Louis Cardinals in 1967, the same year they won the World Series. He was elected to the Baseball Hall of Fame in 1999 and the Bay Area Sports Hall of Fame in 1990. Cepeda's appearance is scheduled for August 9th.

Celebrity Appearances Schedule:

  • 6 p.m.-6:45 p.m.- V.I.P. Meet & Greet with The Club Season Tickets holders
  • 6:55 p.m.-Ceremonial First Pitch
  • 7:00-9:00 p.m. Autograph session for general public

The Stockton Ports open the 2013 campaign with the annual exhibition series with the Sacramento River Cats "Triple-A" affiliate of the Oakland Athletics on Tuesday April 2nd at 6:35 p.m.
