The City of Stockton Community Development Department will hold three community meetings Oct. 17, 18 and 19, 2018, to discuss needs, concerns and local policy options related to adult use cannabis businesses.

The first meeting will be held on Wednesday, Oct. 17, 2018. Discussion will center around cultivation and distribution, including state and local requirements and issues related to business integration and location. On Thursday, Oct. 18, 2018, the community discussion will focus on audit practices and limits on the number of businesses for manufacturing, delivery and dispensaries. The meeting will be held at Stribley Community Center, Meeting Room, 1760 E. Sonora St., from 3 – 5 p.m.

The third meeting will focus on discussion related to an equity program and development of a sustainable model that reduces racial disparities. The meeting will take place on Friday, Oct. 19, 2018, from 10 a.m. to noon, at San Joaquin Delta College, South Forum Meeting Room, 5151 Pacific Ave.

Results from the community meetings will be presented to the Planning Commission at its regularly scheduled meeting, Thursday, Nov. 15, 2018, 6 p.m. Planning Commission meetings are open to the public and held in the Council Chamber, City Hall, 2nd floor, 425 N. El Dorado St.

“Since the approval of legalized marijuana in 2016 by California voters, we continue to discuss what these changes mean to Stockton,” said Community Development Director David Kwong. “We want to hear from the community about what makes sense locally and how City policies can reflect those needs.”

All members of the community are encouraged to participate. Those interested are asked to sign up as a workshop participant by Oct. 12, 2018. For details or additional information, please visit www.stocktonca.gov/cannabis or call 209-937-8270.
