UOP Helps Local Students Learn More About STEM Careers

And Inspire Them to Acquire 21st Century Skills

Event date: 4/26/2018 8:30 AM - 2:30 PM Export event

We are proud to announce the inaugural Enov8 Conference at the University of the Pacific. In a joint partnership with the Admission’s Office and Enov8 Conference, the University will host 400 high school students from Stockton, Lodi, Modesto, and Tracy on its campus to learn about career opportunities in technology, engineering, science, multimedia and agriculture from professionals.

This event has two goals. The first is for Pacific to connect with and reach students in the Stockton community and surrounding area who may not know about or have access to all the resources that the campus can offer, such as scholarships, transfer programs and academic tutoring.  The second goal of the Enov8 Conference is to inspire the youth to acquire 21st century technical skills so that in a few years this area can have a highly trained labor force that can attract more business to the area.

“We want all students in the Valley to know that there are great opportunities for them to pursue high level science, technology, engineering, and math majors’ right here at Pacific.” – Candice Adams, UOP Admission & Diversity Programs & Outreach

“With more retail stores closing and automation, the jobs of today will not be there tomorrow. We have to prepare the youth and adults to make the transition to more technical careers”

– Dominique Bukasa, Enov8 Conference CEO

Our keynote speakers: They include twins Donte and Dominic Morris, who were contestants on the ABC hit show “Shark Tank,” Stockton City Councilman Jesus Andrade, Dr. Abel Fernandez, a NASA Engineer, and Dr. Shannamar Dewey, science professor and the winner of a prestigious Pierce Fellowship Award at UC Davis.

About Enov8 Conference: We organize Educational Events throughout the State of California to encourage students to pursue career pathways that lead to middle and higher income employment. In 2018 we will have events in Sacramento, Union City, Los Angeles and San Jose and host more than 2,000 students.

Event: April 26th, 2018 | 8:30 AM to 2:30 PM | DeRosa Conference Center, University of the Pacific
