18th Annual Stockton Sikh Parade & Festival
2016 Sikh Parade in Stockton, CA
Each year, Stockton plays host to the Stockton Nagar Kirtan, which boasts the title of being one of the largest Sikh parades in the entire state of California. Drawing hundreds of Sikhs from around the region, the event features a traditional parade, authentic cuisine, sporting events and traditional garb. The festival serves as a celebration of the existing Sikh community while allowing them to share their traditions with the larger public. Parade and festival, begin this Sunday, April 17th at noon at the Gurdwara Sahib, the Stockton Sikh Temple located at 1930 S Grant Street.
Thousands of Sikh worshipers are expected to converge to celebrate the dawn of the Khalsa Panth as part of a weekend celebration highlighted by the 18th annual Vaisakhi Day Parade. The Sikh parade brightens streets of south Stockton, every year to educate, celebrate culture, and embrace equality. The first Sikh temple in the United States was built in Stockton in 1912.
