Heat to Host Second Annual Coaches Clinic on August 24

Local Youth Hockey Coaches Invited To Learn From Heat Coaching Staff

The Stockton Heat, proud AHL affiliate of the NHL’s Calgary Flames, today announced the Heat coaching staff will host the Second Annual Stockton Heat Hockey Coaches Clinic on Friday, August 24 from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m.

“It’s important for us to give back to the local hockey community and help strengthen the roots of the game here in Northern California,” Heat Head Coach Cail MacLean said. “Inviting youth hockey coaches to a free clinic designed to ensure a positive learning environment through preparation, passion and a positive attitude.”

The Stockton Heat Hockey Coaches Clinic will center on “Skills Development” topics for the American Hockey League’s Stockton Heat and how they translate to coaching at the youth levels from mites to the college game, covering topics like:

  • Importance of Practice Planning
  • Importance of Skill Development
  • Off-Ice Conditioning
  • Creating a Positive Learning Environment
  • Utilizing Technology as a Teaching Tool
  • Creating Culture

The Heat Coaching Staff will welcome questions and invite open discussion to assist the coaching community in Central Valley and East Bay communities in their efforts to teach and grow the sport. Breakfast and coffee will be provided to attendees and each coach will receive a free ticket to the Heat's Home Opener against the Ontario Reign on Saturday, October 6 at 6:00 p.m.
