It is with great pleasure, the Greater Stockton Chamber of Commerce announces the selection of Lindy Turner Hardin, as its 2019 ATHENA Award recipient.  The annual ATHENA Award honors individuals who strive toward the highest levels of accomplishment, excel in their chosen business or profession, have demonstrated support for the advancement of business and professional women, have devoted time and energy to their community, and have actively mentored others.

Past ATHENA honorees, Stockton Chamber Board Members and Staff, and members of the Child Abuse Prevention Council (CAPC) Board surprised Lindy this morning (Friday, September 6) at the CAPC all staff meeting.

The ATHENA Award will be presented at the annual ATHENA Awards Luncheon on November 14th, 11:30am, at the Stockton Golf and Country Club.  Tickets for this high-profile event at $40 are available by calling the Greater Stockton Chamber of Chamber at (209) 547-2770 or by visiting http://stocktonchamber.org/athena-awards.

As Executive Director of the Child Abuse Prevention Council, Lindy Turner Hardin has led the organization with passion and vision for sixteen years. At the time she was hired in 2003, the CAPC was struggling. Her tireless dedication to reviving the organization, equipping and effectively managing staff, and her sharp eye on finances saw the agency through to stability. The mission of the CAPC is to strengthen the children and families of our community. The intentional mentorship and development of her staff has led to implementation of outstanding programs and explosive growth over the past several years. The organization's budget has grown from three million dollars to 16 million dollars, tremendously expanding their impact in our community. This could not have been possible without her leadership and the years she has devoted to cultivating a mission-focused agency committed to excellence. The CAPC now offers more than twenty direct service programs to children and families in San Joaquin County. This includes 23 different pre-school locations serving over 800 children a day, full therapy services for children and families, San Joaquin's CASA Program (Court Appointed Special Advocates) to name just a few.

Lindy is a dedicated and passionate professional who works tirelessly to improve the lives of children and families in our community. The intentional way she leads, connects and communicates with all around her makes her an exceptional role model for the women she works with. Given Lindy’s role as the CEO of the one of the largest non-profits in our community, Lindy still manages to be intentional in carving out time out of her day to mentor her Leadership team, which is comprised of almost all women.

Past ATHENA Award recipients are Mary Bava, Dea Berberian, Occeletta Briggs, Judith Buethe, Jane Butterfield, Consuelo “Connie” Callahan, Susan Carson, Judith Chambers, Dr. Pamela Eibeck, Bobbie Fasano, Sara Garfield, Joelle Gomez, Phyllis Grupe, Charlynn Harless, Iva Harris, Dr. Kathy Hart, Hedy Holmes, Dr. Hazel Hill, Marian Jacobs, Kathleen Janssen, Ann Johnston, Susan Lenz, Janice L. Marengo, Jeanette Michaels, Karen Munro, Gillian Murphy, Carol J. Ornelas, Connemara Reisinger, Kathryn Rousek Smith, Cyril Seligman, Kristen Spracher-Birtwhistle, and Jeanne Zolezzi.
