Pacific Tiger's Women Soccer to Host Season Opener this Friday

Event date: 8/18/2017 7:00 PM - 8:30 PM Export event

The Pacific women's soccer team begins their regular season this Friday when they host Fresno State at 7 PM at Knoles Field. It will be the first time since 2003 the Tigers play host to the Bulldogs in Stockton.

Pacific holds a 6-4-2 advantage over Fresno State, including a 3-1-1 mark at home. Last season the Bulldogs edged the Tigers 2-0 for their first win over Pacific since 1999. Loren Landrus paced the Tigers with five shots and goalie Lena Perry added four saves in the loss.

In their lone preseason match this past week, head coach Kerri Scroope got a good look at newcomers Henriikka Mäkelä, Bryndís Rún Thórólfsdóttir, Nikki Leishman, Kristín Eva Gunnarsdóttir, Nòtt Jònsdòttir, and Kayla Pak. Jònsdòttir posted a shot on goal and 'keeper Mäkelä made a pair of saves in her 45 minutes of action.

Friday's admission-free game will be broadcasted live on TheW.tv and live stats will also be available.

Following the showdown with Fresno State the Tigers embark on their first road trip of the season with a quick trip to Northridge, Calif. to take on the Matadors on Aug. 20th before heading to Hawaii for the Outrigger Hotels and Resorts Soccer Classic in Waipahu, O'ahu.
