Women’s Center-Youth & Family Services, the primary provider of free, confidential shelter and services for homeless and runaway youth and victims of domestic violence, sexual assault, and human trafficking in San Joaquin County, is proud to welcome Wendy Wood, PhD to serve as the Keynote Speaker for the agency’s 39thAnnual Luncheon. Dr. Wood is an author, humanistic social scientist, peace builder and co-founder of The Karuna Center for Mindful Engagement. She has led efforts for social justice, violence prevention and intervention, trauma and peace building, conflict transformation, and social systems reform throughout the world. The Luncheon, which serves as Women’s Center-Youth & Family Services annual fundraiser, will be held on Wednesday, March 20th, 2019, at the Stockton Civic Auditorium.
This year’s Annual Luncheon will spotlight how to build stronger communities for greater impact by:
- Discussing the generational impact of violence and trauma,
- Raising awareness of the agency’s comprehensive supportive services, offered free-of-charge;
- Highlighting Women’s Center-Youth & Family Services’ partnerships with local organizations, businesses, and community members; and
- Creating actionable items for community engagement.
The cycle of violence is prevalent throughout San Joaquin County, and every day, we are faced with a series of dynamic new community and societal challenges.
