Silver Lake offers camping just
for youth
Kids ages 9-13 can enjoy an early summer High Sierra getaway at
Silver Lake Camp’s Youth Camps, June 13-16 and June 16-19, offered
by the Stockton Parks and Recreation Department.
Each youth camp costs $138 per person. The fee includes
transportation, lodging, meals, and all camp activities. Each camp
is limited to 150 campers.
Camp activities include hiking, swimming, stargazing and other
programs that introduce campers to the natural environment at Silver
Lake, as well as campfires, arts and crafts and other fun,
supervised experiences.
Meals are offered cafeteria-style at Silver Lake Camp’s historic
lodge, where the camp’s special events are also held. Lodging is in
furnished wood cabins within easy walking distance of a modern,
central bathhouse. Campers must bring adequate clothing for four
days and three nights, sleeping bags or bed linens, toiletries and
towels, a flashlight and good pair of shoes for hiking.
Transportation to and from camp is included with registration,
leaving at 9 a.m. on the first day of camp from the Oak Park Senior
Center parking lot and returning at approximately 3 p.m. on the last
camp day.
The camp’s counselor to camper ratio is 1 to 4. Volunteers
interested in attending camp must complete an application and
background screening.
Reservations are on a first come, first served basis at the Parks
and Recreation office, 6 E. Lindsay Street. Registration deadline is
May 16, 2008. For more information, contact the Parks and Recreation
office at 937-8923.
