Delta Drama presents summer musical ‘Pippin’

Show opens July 12 at Tillie Lewis Theatre

Event date: 7/12/2019 - 7/21/2019 Export event

“Pippin,” an eclectic musical telling the story of a young prince who longs to find passion and adventure in his life, will run July 12-14 and July 19-21 at Delta’s Tillie Lewis Theatre.

Admission is free of charge and community members are welcome.

Set in medieval times, the story of “Pippin” is told through modern song and dance. Musical genres include pop and gospel, rock, and classic Broadway.

The music is written by Stephen Schwartz, perhaps best known for the musicals “Wicked” and “Godspell.” Interest in “Pippin” has grown since its 2013 Broadway revival.

“It’s a really cool show,” said Director Kevin Costello. “it’s very creative and very theatrical, with great music and a rather timeless message.”

‘Pippin’ will be performed the weekends of July 12-14 and July 19-21. Friday and Saturday shows start at 7 p.m. with Sunday shows at 2 p.m.

General admission tickets are free of charge and can be reserved online, by phone at (209) 954-5110 or by visiting the Delta Center for the Arts Box Office in the Locke Center on the Delta campus.

The limit is two tickets per person per performance and tickets will be held at Will Call on the day of the show. In order to give every patron an opportunity to see the performance, all free tickets will expire 10 minutes before a show starts and empty seats will be given away.

Pippin is presented through special arrangement with Music Theatre International (MTI). All authorized performance materials are also supplied by MTI.
