Event date: 1/31/2014 5:30 PM - 8:30 PM Export event

Award-winning local area artist, Linda Abbott Trapp, will be featured in a one-woman show at the Hilton Hotel in Stockton the month of February, 2014.
The public is invited to the opening reception Friday, January 31st from 5:30 to 8:30 at the Stockton Hilton.
Dr. Abbott Trapp has a broadly varied background in the arts as well as in psychology, political science, and ecotourism.  She lived and worked in Siberia, Ethiopia, and Mexico as well as in a number of places in the United States. She brings that experience to bear in her watercolors, which are primarily abstract, in the style known as Lyrical Expressionism. Her work has been shown in the Midwest as well as in California, garnering a number of awards.  It’s held in many private collections. Her paintings draw on the insights of psychology and environmentalism to stimulate thoughtful consideration of the individual's role and responsibility.
Dr. Trapp will by joined by poet R. M. Ryan, who is described by the New York Times as one of those writers who work at the edge of “rapture and rupture.”  Ryan is a poet, novelist, memoirist, publisher, and visual artist.  His most recent book--Vaudeville in the Dark--came out in 2010.
Ryan supported himself for many years with a day job in the investment business and worked for many years at Robert W. Baird & Co, Inc, a major regional investment firm.  He retired from there in 2005 as Senior Vice President.  Since then, Ryan has been a full-time writer and the part-time President of Little Glass LLC, a diversified real-estate and investment management firm
There’s a Man With a Gun Over There, his book about his time in the US Army as an undercover black-market investigator, is due out next year.  He divides his time between the sea coast of Sonoma County and San Francisco.  He is on his way to Cuba after his time with Art Expressions of San Joaquin.
