San Joaquin Bike Fest

The San Joaquin Bike Festival is on Saturday, September 27 at University of the Pacific and will benefit the nutrition programs of the Emergency Food Bank of Stockton/San Joaquin and the educational programs of the San Joaquin Bicycle Coalition.  By registering today, you will have a wonderful opportunity to participate in a great event, make an impact on the Fight Against Hunger and educate cyclists on safe bicycling practices.

The Emergency Food Bank and Family Services of Stockton/San Joaquin serves healthy food to over one thousand people a day. The food bank provides food service to 10 food satellite pantries and over thirty non-profit agencies throughout San Joaquin County. The Emergency Food Bank’s Mobile Farmer’s Market program visits another 60+ sites, county-wide, offering fresh produce, cooking tips and recipes to thousands more each month. Health & fitness, nutrition, and food economics are emphasized; the food bank provides classes in healthy living, economical meal planning, and food preparation.

The San Joaquin Bike Coalition is a comprehensive non-profit community organization that advocates bicycle safety and bicycle related events. The SJBC is involved with local government for the implementation and service of bicycle lanes, resources for motorists and bicyclists, and a hub for the advancement of bicycles in the community.  The Coalitions’ vision is “a vibrant cycling culture within the communities of San Joaquin County, where cycling is safe and preferred method of transportation and recreation.”

Kick off your summer and join the family-friendly annual San Joaquin Bike Festival. Bicyclists have a variety of routes to choose from, ranging from one mile to 25 miles. This event includes a music, delicious BBQ, a beer stube, fun activities, and a Bicycle Rodeo for young kids with tricycles and training wheels.

Volunteers are essential to the success of the event. You’ll receive a handsome volunteer t-shirt and lots of snacks, refreshments, and fun! Please contact Tim Viall, SJ Bicycle Coalition, [email protected], phone 209.969.3875 or Kimberly Maxwell at the Emergency Food Bank, [email protected] phone, 209.464.7369.
