Health Plan of San Joaquin (HPSJ), in partnership with Mountain Valley Health Plan, has announced the return of its Health Careers Scholarship Program for 2025—an initiative aimed at investing in the next generation of local health care leaders.
The program offers $3,000 scholarships to both graduating high school seniors and currently enrolled full-time college students pursuing careers in the medical and health care fields. Eligible applicants must have attended a local high school and plan to serve communities within San Joaquin, Stanislaus, El Dorado, or Alpine counties.
HPSJ’s mission goes beyond providing access to care—it's about strengthening local talent pipelines and supporting students who are committed to improving the health and well-being of the very communities they call home.
“The Health Careers Scholarship Program helps ensure that our underserved populations will be cared for by professionals who not only understand the challenges, but who have lived them,” said Shaunetta Ransom, Community Relations Lead for San Joaquin and Stanislaus counties.
In addition to financial assistance, scholarship recipients are paired with professional mentors—doctors, pharmacists, health educators, and more—who provide one-on-one support throughout the student’s academic journey.
