Wendi Maxwell and the Trés Hot Jazz Band pay tribute to Ella Fitzgerald—possibly the best jazz singer of the 20th century.
Known for her purity of tone, impeccable diction, phrasing and intonation, emulating Ella is a challenge for any jazz singer.
“I’m not going to try to sound like Ella,” Maxwell noted. “Nobody can do that. But I wanted to visit some of her most famous songs and spend an evening honoring her legacy.”
Maxwell's debut CD, No More Blues!, is on sale at the Museum Store. This evening performance is included with regular admission, as part of the museum's 1st & 3rd Thursdays series, featuring complimentary wine and snacks beginning at 6:30 p.m.
Seating is limited, and will be provided on a first-come, first-served basis. For more information, contact Curator of Education Lisa Cooperman at (209) 940-6315 or education@hagginmuseum.org.
