Urban Agriculture Community Meetings in January Join the City of Stockton and Valley Vision
The City of Stockton’s Community Development Department, Economic Development Department, and Valley Vision will host two Urban Agriculture Community Meetings in January:
- Tuesday, Jan. 8, 2019, from 6-7 p.m., at Bear Creek High School Library, 10555 Thornton Road, and
- Thursday, Jan. 17, 2019, from 6-7 p.m., at Cesar Chavez High School Career Center, 2929 Windflower Lane
City of Stockton and Valley Vision representatives will share information and participate in an interactive discussion about the upcoming Urban Agriculture Ordinance, what it means for members of our community, and how it can have a positive impact.
“These community meetings will help develop the proposed Urban Agriculture Ordinance, including changes to the current municipal code, providing for community gardens and other agricultural activities within an urban setting,” said Micah Runner, Director of Economic Development. “The development of an ordinance is a foundation for the Food and Agriculture Action Plan, which will go a long way toward addressing issues of access to fresh produce in areas within our community that are currently defined as food deserts. Long-term, this will improve the overall health of our community.”
Members of the community are encouraged to participate in one or both of these meetings. The same information will be shared at both meetings.
