The Superior Court of California, County of San Joaquin is now accepting applications for service on the 2026–2027 San Joaquin County Civil Grand Jury, an essential civic body that plays a key role in local oversight and public trust .
Civil grand jurors don’t decide criminal cases. Instead, they investigate how local governments and public agencies operate—shining a light on systems that affect daily life across San Joaquin County. Who Can Apply?
Applicants must be at least 18 years old, a U.S. citizen, and have lived in San Joaquin County for at least one year. Jurors must be able to meet in person and participate remotely when needed, with access to a smartphone and internet. Applicants cannot currently be serving as a trial juror or elected public official. Qualified candidates may be interviewed by a Superior Court judge, and background checks are conducted by the District Attorney’s Office .
