The 95-member Stockton Concert Band is a community band started by a group of Stockton area music educators and businessmen in 1986. Several of the original 30 people who attended the very first rehearsal continue playing in the Band today.

The 20th Annual National Adoption Day in San Joaquin County will be celebrated at the Stockton Courthouse on Saturday, November 23, 2019 at 9 a.m. The San Joaquin Superior Court will host National Adoption Day with San Joaquin County Human Services Agency, Lilliput Children Services, Koinonia Family Services, Aspiranet and Parents by Choice. This event will celebrate and finalize adoptions for 17 families and 22 foster care children.
The Business Council of San Joaquin County announced today that they have appointed Betty Wilson as Executive Director. Wilson has served in the financial industry for more than fifteen years and most recently worked in government relations.

Lord’s Gym City Center will be serving over 100 deserving youth for a free Thanksgiving Dinner on Thursday, November 21, 2019 from 5:30 pm to 7:30 pm at their location on Hammer Lane; 848 E. Women’s Center-Youth & Family Services (WCYFS) will host its annual holiday giving programs, Adopt-A-Family and the Holiday Toy Drive. These donation programs allow WCYFS to provide additional support to vulnerable youth and families in our community. Women, children, youth and men in crisis arrive at our doors shaken by trauma and anxious about their future. Children ask “How will Santa know where to find us?” and parents worry about how they will afford the basic necessities, let alone presents. Together, we can share the giving spirit of this holiday season.
