A welcome sight to motorists in Stockton
Caltrans and its partners, the San Joaquin Council of Governments (SJCOG), San Joaquin County and the city of Stockton, celebrated another milestone today with the completion of the final portion of the long awaited I-5 Corridor Improvement project. The $194.5 million project was designed to decrease congestion and improve commute times for motorists traveling on I-5 through Stockton.
The Salvation Army units in San Joaquin County (Lodi, Stockton and Tracy) are reporting that the Red Kettle Campaign donations are down by nearly 30% compared to funds raised last Christmas season.
St. Joseph’s Medical Center located in Stockton will participate in the Abiomed Mobile Learning Lab program on Dec. 14, 2016 at 11 a.m. The Mobile Learning Lab is a highly interactive, facilitated learning experience that is brought directly to the hospital with the goal of training hospital staff on the Impella® heart pump, one of the newest, minimally invasive heart support and recovery technologies. The Impella is manufactured by Abiomed, Inc.
Two Pacific projects likely to employ 170 construction workers, pump $7.6 M into economy
Construction of University of the Pacifics $1.5 million Janssen-Lagorio Performance Center and a clubhouse for the $4 million Eve Zimmerman Tennis Center is expected to employ 170 construction workers between now and when the two facilities open in spring 2017, pumping an estimated $7.6 million into the county economy.
Stockton Police and Fire Departments Unite With Food 4 Less and Rancho San Miguel Markets

The 21st Annual Stockton Fire/Police Department and Food 4 Less Turkey Brigade will take place Thursday, December 15th at 9am. 520 turkeys totaling 8,000 pounds (4 tons) will be loaded onto Fire trucks, Police vehicles and the Food 4 Less truck to help feed hungry families during the holidays starting at 9am in front of the Food 4 Less Hammer Lane location.
James Patterson, the internationally renowned author, literacy advocate and philanthropist, will be the commencement speaker for the May 13 graduation ceremony at University of the Pacific.
This December, the Micke Grove Zoo Education Department is offering full day (10:00 AM-3:00 PM) Winter Zoo Camps for children ages 5 through 10. These adventure-packed, single and 2-day camp sessions offer campers a chance to experience traditional zoo camp activities with a longer day. This gives parents a chance to schedule in some time for their busy holiday plans.
