Breaking Ground in Downtown Stockton: 94 New Affordable Housing Units Coming Soon

La Passeggiata to Bring Multi-Generational Living and Vital Services to Miner Avenue

Event date: 6/26/2025 10:30 AM - 11:30 AM Export event

Visionary Home Builders of California, Inc. is proud to announce the groundbreaking of La Passeggiata, a new five-story affordable housing development located at the corner of Miner Avenue and American Street in downtown Stockton.

The ceremony will take place at 10:30 a.m. on Thursday, June 26, 2025, marking the beginning of a transformative 94-unit infill project designed to revitalize state-owned land and provide much-needed housing for low- and moderate-income families.

La Passeggiata is being developed in alignment with Governor Gavin Newsom’s statewide initiative to build affordable housing on surplus state-owned properties. The project is being made possible through a coalition of public and private partners, including RBC Community Investments, JP Morgan Chase, the City of Stockton, and multiple California state housing agencies.

Built by Sisler & Sisler Construction, the development will include one-, two-, and three-bedroom units, each equipped with in-unit washers and dryers. Residents will also enjoy a range of community-focused amenities such as:

  • A teen center
  • Community room
  • Playgrounds and basketball court
  • EV chargers and solar power
  • On-site Head Start early learning programs

“We look forward to welcoming new neighbors to La Passeggiata,” said Carol Ornelas, CEO of Visionary Home Builders. “This development will serve as a bridge between generations and enhance the quality of life in our community. We are proud to help transform unused land into a thriving, affordable place to call home.”

Visionary Home Builders is a Stockton-based nonprofit dedicated to creating healthy, safe, and vibrant communities through affordable housing and educational opportunities for families, seniors, and individuals.
