Catfish Plants At Oak Grove Regional Park To Begin Shortly

In the next few weeks, San Joaquin County Parks and Recreation will begin planting over 6,500 lbs. of catfish during the fishing season at Oak Grove Regional Park.

The first plant will coincide with the Parks Dept.’s 29th annual Catfish Derby, set for Sat., June 1 at Oak Grove. Over 2,300 lbs. of catfish will be planted prior to the derby. The event is open to everyone and free to kids 15 years and under, a $5 fishing permit fee and valid CA. fishing license are required for those 16 years or older. A $6 vehicle-parking fee will also apply, as do all State Fish and Game laws. Participants must supply their own fishing equipment.

Future catfish plantings are scheduled weekly throughout the season at Oak Grove with additional plantings from the California State Dept. of Fish and Game. Please check www.sjparks.com for a planting schedule.

Oak Grove Regional Park is located on Eight Mile Road and Interstate 5 in Stockton. For more information, call (209) 331-2050 or log onto www.sjparks.com.
