Women’s Center-Youth & Family Services will host its 36th Annual Luncheon on Wednesday, March 23, 2016 at the Stockton Civic Auditorium. Women's Center-YFS is proud to welcome author, family violence expert, speaker, and trainer Casey Gwinn to serve as the keynote speaker for this year’s luncheon. In 2016, Women’s Center-YFS celebrates its 40th Anniversary of serving the community. A special video marking this milestone will premiere at the luncheon.
Gwinn’s keynote address will focus on his many years of work learning about the long-lasting impacts of domestic violence on children, and how to help them heal from that trauma. Gwinn’s book Cheering for the Children: Creating Pathways to HOPE for Children Exposed to Trauma will be on sale before and after the luncheon program, and he will be signing books after the event.
Women’s Center-YFS’ luncheon draws more than 750 guests each year. The goals of the annual luncheon are to raise community awareness and generate funds to support Women’s Center-YFS’ services and shelters for homeless youth and victims of domestic violence, sexual assault, and human trafficking. All proceeds from the luncheon will be used to improve the lives of the women, children, youth and men served by Women’s Center-YFS.
Doors to the Civic Auditorium will open at 11:00 a.m. and the program will start promptly at 11:30 a.m. A limited number of tables are still available for sponsorship or reserved tables. Casey Gwinn is the former elected City Attorney of San Diego. He currently serves as the President of Alliance for HOPE International. He is the visionary behind the rapidly developing Family Justice Center movement — bringing together, under one roof, services to victims of domestic violence, sexual assault, and stalking and their children. He is the founder of the nationally recognized Camp HOPE America, the first camping and mentoring program focused on children exposed to domestic violence. Gwinn is an expert in the complex challenges of addressing near-fatal strangulation assaults. He has authored or co-authored nine books and hundreds of articles and media commentaries. Gwinn’s newest book, Cheering for the Children: Creating Pathways to HOPE for Children Exposed to Trauma, focuses on the impact of childhood trauma on adult illness, disease, and criminality. He has been profiled on ABC Nightly News, The Early Show on CBS, and the Oprah Winfrey Show. Gwinn is a widely sought after speaker and trainer on issues related to family violence and travels extensively across the United States and around the world.
