Cooling Zones–Places to Beat the Heat

City of Stockton Arnold Rue and Van Buskirk Community Centers – July 8 – July 11

Extremely high temperatures are expected Wednesday through Saturday of this week. City of Stockton Arnold Rue and Van Buskirk Community Centers will be open as cooling zones for those who need to escape the heat. Both community centers will be open from 2:00 – 7:00 p.m., July 8 through July 11, 2021. • Arnold Rue Community Center – 5758 Lorraine Ave., Stockton 95210 • Van Buskirk Community Center – 734 Houston Ave., Stockton 95206 Seating will be offered in the gymnasium area, which is air-conditioned, and water will be provided. Face coverings are required at all times while at the community centers and are available at the door. Please bring books, games, and electronic devises that you and members of your household can enjoy while maintaining minimal activity level, as sports courts and equipment will not be accessible. City pools are open for public swim for a fee of $2 per person every day of the week, except Monday. Visit the City of Stockton website for locations and hours at www.stocktonca.gov/pools. On days with high temperatures, please remember to take precautions. Stay indoors, keep physical activity to a minimum, drink plenty of water, and monitor those who are sensitive to the negative impacts of heat, including elderly, children, those who are ill, and pets.
