Delta College Financial Aid Specialist Stan Rapada received his Classified Employee of the Year award at this morning's California Community Colleges Board of Governors meeting in Sacramento (Monday, May 16). Mr. Rapada was one of four community college classified employees honored, including: Kim Goff, Los Rios Community College; Rebecca Saffold, Santa Barbara City College; Jocelyn Vila, San Mateo Community College.
A retired Navy veteran, Stan Rapada is well known for his consummate commitment to helping colleagues, students and veterans achieve their academic goals. Stan is sensitive to the needs of the diverse student population, and always maintains a positive, friendly attitude. As his colleagues know, Stan never hesitates to resolve challenging situations - always going above and beyond the call of duty!
Stan is also a staff member of Delta College’s Veteran Resource Center. He has dedicated much of his work to providing student veterans with proper mentoring programs, textbooks, and an on-campus Food Pantry for those in need. Of significant importance to Stan is his role in Stockton’s Veterans Stand Down events. These events provide information to homeless veterans in need of assistance. Rapada continuously helps organize student volunteers to assist in this life-changing activity.
If all this weren’t enough, accomplished photographer Stan Rapada volunteers his time with other Vets in Iraq documenting the plight of Iraqi Kurdish refugees for the documentary “The Longest Road.”
Simply put, Stan Rapada’s dedicated work has played a vital role in many venues…turning lives around and empowering students and veterans to keep moving forward. Delta College and our community congratulate Stan Rapada!
