The Downtown Stockton Alliance’s (DSA)
Board of Directors is pleased to announce appointment of Leandro Vicuña to the position
of Chief Executive Officer (CEO). The position was vacated in July of 2013 with the
departure of Emily Baime, who had accepted a CEO position with Mid Town Sacramento
Business District.
Until a permanent replacement was named, the Board appointed Troy Broddrick as an
Interim Manager. During his 10-week term, Broddrick oversaw the successful relocation
of the DSA to new offices at 125 Bridge Place as well as the implementation of the allelectric
Polaris Ranger fleet replacing the old, gas powered vehicles. He also successfully
managed several critical transitional issues during the search for the new CEO.
Broddrick’s last day was September 15.;
Leandro Vicuña takes the office on September 18.
When asked what he aims to achieve, Vicuña replied, “more people should live and work in Downtown like I do. I enjoy
running around the waterfront, watching Stockton Thunder’s hockey games and Stockton Ports’ baseball games, eating at
local restaurants, networking at downtown events, and walking to work. We need to find a way to finish the planning and
development in Downtown that started before the economy collapsed. Enhancing safety and cleanliness, creating a vibrant
and fun urban culture, promoting retail/residential mixed use properties, showcasing our beautiful waterfront and focusing on
smart growth-sustainable green initiatives are all issues that I will focus upon to change the perception that people have of
Downtown. I will work hard to build mutually beneficial relationships with city and county leaders, business owners and nonprofits
to establish a collective vision of Downtown.”
Vicuña stresses his commitment to Downtown’s revitalization and is excited about the opportunity to be a part of it. He
believes that his prior professional and community experiences will be valuable assets to the Downtown Stockton Alliance.
Prior to joining the DSA, Vicuña founded Sus Finanzas, a non-profit organization dedicated to promoting financial literacy and
financial inclusion for low income families in Stockton. Leandro was also Vice President of CBSJ Bank’s Wealth Management
Division. Prior to that, he was Vice President and Regional Asset Manager at Bank of the West where he managed a robust real
estate portfolio. He was Senior Communications Editor for the Thomas Cooley Law Journal.
Due to his history of community service to Stockton, Vicuña was awarded the “John Aguilar Spirit Award for Most
Outstanding Business Leader in the Community” in 2013. In addition, he was honored with “Special Congressional and
Senate Recognition for His Commitment to His Community” in 2013.
Vicuña earned his J.D. from Thomas Cooley Law School and his B.A. in Law and Political Science from the University of
California Santa Barbara. He also has an advanced certificate in non-profit board training from the University of the Pacific
Eberhardt School of Business.
Leandro Vicuña is Chairman of Sus Finanzas, Vice Chairman of El Concilio, and serves on the Board of Hospice of San
Joaquin. He contributes as a writer in the Central Valley Business Journal.
