Junior League launches Reading Challenge

Junior League of San Joaquin County (JLSJC) will kick off the 2013-2014 Reading Challenge at *Pittman Elementary (701 E. Park Street Stockton,CA), this Friday, September 6th, 2013 at 2:30pm in the school Cafeteria. * City Councilman Michael Tubbs will be present to for the ceremony. The Reading Challenge and encourages children grades K-8 to grab a book, magazine, or newspaper and read throughout the year, for 20 minutes a day. Items read, are logged and are totaled up by the number of words read, prizes will be given to the top readers at the end of the year.

JLSJC is an organization of women committed to promoting volunteerism through the effective action and leadership of trained volunteers, whose purpose is exclusively educational and charitable. Junior League of San Joaquin County is recognized in our community for implementing projects and partnerships that impact women, children and families in need and for creating an environment that fosters personal growth, leadership, and friendship.
