San Joaquin RTD Wins National and Local Awards

San Joaquin Regional Transit District (RTD) recently received several national and local awards.

The Transportation Marketing and Sales Association (TMSA) announced RTD as a recipient of three 2015 Compass Awards. The awards program recognizes marketing and sales best practices by transportation companies demonstrating effective execution and measurable results. RTD received three 2015 Compass Awards of Merit for the following programs: the RTD Fall Festival (Event category), the Patriot Recognition Campaign (Integrated Marketing Category), and RTD’s 50th Anniversary Video (Single Advertising Campaign). RTD competed against 80 entries from 35 other companies and agencies for these awards.

RTD was selected as a recipient of a 2015 Gold Achievement in the American Heart Association Fit-Friendly Program. The Fit-Friendly program annually recognizes employers who champion the health of their employees and work to create a culture of physical activity and health in the workplace.

The Greater Stockton Chamber of Commerce recognized RTD as the 2015 FRESH Employer of the Year. FRESH stands for Fitness Rejuvenates Employee Sustainability & Health (FRESH) and is a Chamber program that encourages not only physical fitness but the fiscal fitness of local Stockton Businesses. RTD is the first ever recipient of this award. RTD encourages an organizational culture “obsessed with wellness.” In 2012, RTD launched an enhanced Employee Wellness Program. The mission of the program is to improve the health and well-being of RTD employees and their families through activities that support positive lifestyle changes and management of chronic conditions. Through this program, RTD promotes employee health, increases productivity, promotes a safe working environment, and avoids unnecessary health care costs.

“We wanted to create a culture obsessed with safety, and a culture obsessed with wellness,” said RTD General Manager/CEO Donna DeMartino. “I’m really proud for RTD to be recognized in this way.”
