Steady progress being made on the Crosstown Extension

Steady progress is being made on the State Route 4 (SR-4) Crosstown Extension. The Navy Drive ramps are now being constructed along with rough grading on the north side of the drive. We are currently relocating the utilities and likely will have this completed by the end of May. We are about 55% complete with construction on the State Route 4 viaduct bridge. We will begin the widening portion of Navy Drive later this summer.

This project will help remove trucks from a residential neighborhood, improving quality of life for residents while giving trucks and motorists a faster, less-stressful alternative.

This project will extend the Crosstown Freeway west from Fresno Avenue to Navy Drive. The extension will be carried on twin viaduct (bridge) structures that will cross over Fresno Avenue creating a grade separation that will no longer allow highway traffic to enter the Boggs Tract neighborhood at Fresno Avenue. Navy Drive will be converted to a four-lane facility with auxiliary lanes and a partial interchange.
