Students in Stockton, San Joaquin County and across the country have an opportunity to apply for a $25,000 scholarship without writing an essay.
The $25,000 “Be Bold” No-Essay Scholarship, offered through Bold.org, is open nationwide to students from any education level, state, GPA or field of study. The scholarship is designed to make financial assistance more accessible by removing many of the traditional requirements associated with scholarship applications.
For local high school students preparing for college, current college students, graduate students and others continuing their education, the broad eligibility requirements make the scholarship an opportunity worth exploring.
Unlike many scholarships that require lengthy essays, recommendation letters or a minimum GPA, the Be Bold Scholarship is based largely on an applicant’s Bold.org profile.
According to Bold.org, the scholarship will be awarded to the applicant whose profile best demonstrates three characteristics: being earnest, determined and moving forward. The organization notes that being “bold” does not necessarily mean having the longest list of accomplishments, but rather showing determination and a willingness to continue pursuing personal and educational goals.
The scholarship uses rolling monthly application deadlines. The current deadline is August 31, 2026, and the winner is scheduled to be announced on December 1, 2026.
There is no fee to create an account or submit an application through Bold.org. The organization also states that the scholarship is funded by Bold.org and that students may apply regardless of their chosen major or academic standing.
The Be Bold Scholarship is now in its sixth year, and Bold.org reports that more than $160,000 has been awarded through the program to date.
Applicants selected for an award may be required to verify their academic enrollment status, such as by providing a student ID or transcript. Scholarship funds intended for tuition are generally sent directly to the financial aid office of the recipient’s educational institution.
For students and families in Stockton and throughout San Joaquin County, scholarships like this can provide another resource when planning for the rising cost of college, vocational training and other forms of higher education.
Because there is no essay and no minimum GPA requirement, the Be Bold Scholarship may be especially appealing to students who do not qualify for more restrictive academic awards.
Students and families should always review scholarship eligibility requirements, deadlines and terms carefully before applying.
