The October 31 celebration at First Baptist West Campus brings live shows, games and creative activities to families of all ages.

For many families, the best part of Halloween is watching children find their own kind of fun. Some head straight for the games. Others would rather make something, have their faces painted or watch a show with a parent nearby.

CandyLand brings those choices together at First Baptist West Campus Community Center in Stockton on Saturday, October 31. The sixth annual gathering runs from 5:30 to 8 p.m., with free admission and a welcome for all ages.

That combination makes it a useful option for households planning a shared Halloween outing. Rather than organizing an evening around several stops, families can choose a community gathering with entertainment and activities in one place.

More than a candy stop

The announced lineup includes two live shows, carnival games, inflatables, face painting, crafts, live music and raffle prizes. Candy is part of the evening, and food vendors are also scheduled.

The range of activities gives the celebration an appeal beyond collecting treats. A craft table offers a different way to participate from an inflatable or a carnival game, while a live show provides something families can watch together.

Organizers describe CandyLand as a gathering intended to bring neighbors together in a welcoming setting. For Stockton residents, that is part of the attraction of a local community event: children can enjoy the holiday while adults share the evening with friends, relatives and other families.

Planning a Halloween evening

The celebration takes place at First Baptist West Campus Community Center, 33 W. Alpine Avenue, Stockton. Admission is free. The listing includes food vendors but does not say their offerings are complimentary, so families should plan separately for food purchases.

A neighborhood Halloween gathering can be memorable for simple reasons: time spent together, a new game to try and a chance to enjoy the holiday close to home. CandyLand gives Stockton families another place to make those moments their own.
