Stockton families will have more reasons to spend their summer evenings outdoors as San Joaquin County Parks and Recreation launches Parks After Dark, a new series of free community events at neighborhood parks throughout Stockton.
The family-friendly program will feature outdoor movies, live music, games, activities and a special food truck night. The events are designed to bring families, friends and neighbors together while creating safe, welcoming and active public spaces.
Funded through a $100,000 Central Valley Park Access and Activation Grant from the Trust for Public Land, Parks After Dark was developed with direct input from community members. Residents helped shape the types of activities, services and park locations included in the program.
Local food trucks will be available at every event, giving attendees the opportunity to purchase dinner, snacks and refreshments while enjoying the evening’s entertainment.

Known for blending Latin music with classic American dance favorites, Q-Vo Band will close out the Parks After Dark series with an evening designed to get the community moving.
In addition to movies, music and food, San Joaquin County departments and community organizations will be present at each event. Representatives will provide information about community safety, nutrition, health and wellness, employment opportunities and other services available to local individuals and families.
Residents are encouraged to bring lawn chairs or blankets, invite their family and friends, and enjoy a free evening under the stars. The series offers an opportunity to meet neighbors, discover valuable community resources and experience Stockton’s neighborhood parks in a lively new way.
