Belletto Legacy, Big Names, and High Stakes Light Up August 9 Showdown

Racing royalty returns to the 209 as Stockton 99 Speedway roars to life this Saturday, August 9, with its most anticipated event of the season — the Night of Champions. This year’s edition honors the legendary Harry Belletto, a three-time track champion and West Coast Stock Car Hall of Famer, with a 74-lap Pro Late Model feature under the lights.

The Belletto family name will be back on the track in full force, as Ripon’s Nic Belletto gears up to drive the iconic No. 74 Belletto Racing Chevrolet — a tribute to his father’s unforgettable Monte Carlo. Nic is still chasing his first win in this emotional tribute event, after finishing fourth last year.

But the road to victory won’t be easy.

Who’s In the Hunt?

  • JoJo Stearns of Stockton, last year’s Night of Champions winner, is coming off a fresh victory over Escalon’s Sammy Solari in the Stockton Late Model series just last week.

  • Justin Phillpott, a three-time Stockton champ from Tracy and the 2025 SPEARS CARS Tour West Limited Pro Late Model winner, will be looking for redemption after spinning out from pole position in 2024.

  • Mike David, 2007 ARCA Menards West champ and Modesto native, will pilot Solari’s No. 22. David knows this track well — he notched the first of his six ARCA wins right here at Stockton in 2004.

Support Divisions Add to the Heat

  • Ethan Rumsey continues to widen his lead in the NorCal Mini Stocks, fresh off his fifth win of the season over Stockton’s Barrett Sugden.

  • Patrick Geiger of Fresno is closing in on Modesto’s Freddy Irvin in the Fast Kar Solutions Mini Modified title chase, having won all but two races he’s entered this year.

  • The NorCal Legend Series raises the stakes with a National Qualifier — one of just three remaining chances to qualify for the INEX Asphalt Nationals in Las Vegas.

Champions, Autographs & Family Fun

The celebration kicks off early with a special autograph session featuring past champions at 5:30 p.m., giving fans a chance to meet their racing heroes before the engines fire up for a full evening of speed and spectacle.
