Stockton Arts Grants Mandatory Workshop for Applicants

Mandatory Workshop for Applicants in October

The City of Stockton Arts Commission has a total of $40,000 available in arts grants to support, stimulate, and strengthen the arts in Stockton.  Grants for awards in the amount of $1,000 to $10,000 will be awarded in March, 2017. Those interested in applying must attend one of two mandatory workshops:

  • Thursday, October 27, 2016, from 5:30 – 7:00 p.m., or
  • Saturday, October 29, 2016, from 9:00 – 10:30 a.m.

Both workshops will be held at the Oak Park Senior Center, 730 E. Fulton Street.
Applicants must meet one of the following criteria:

  • Non-profit organization that maintain business office or primary venue in Stockton;
  • Artist, including student artist, who maintains a primary residence in Stockton; or
  • Arts educator who teaches in a school, college, or university in Stockton, but does not, necessarily, reside in Stockton.

Following workshop attendance, completed grant applications must be received no later than December 14, 2016, 4:00 p.m., at the Community Services Department in Cesar Chavez Central Library, 2nd Floor, 605 N. El Dorado Street, Stockton, CA 95202.

All art types such as mainstream, contemporary and ethnic will be considered.

Grant applicants must propose a project that:

  • Consists of arts events/activities open to the public and held in Stockton;
  • Will take place between January 1, 2017, and December 31, 2017;
  • May include, but not limited to, performances, exhibits, classes, workshops, festivals, screenings, and readings;
  • May be an existing project or new project; and
  • May involve all artistic disciplines including, but not limited to, music, dance, theatre, visual, and literary arts.
