With November often offering sunny, crisp days, plan an “in-city weekend adventure”! Dust off those walking shoes or take your bicycles and explore waterfront Stockton! Center of our focus, the Deep Water Channel in downtown Stockton, from the Stockton Ballpark on the northwest channel-side to the Marina on the southeast side.
A great place to start is near the Stockton Ballpark, 404 W. Fremont, with plenty of on-street parking.
The Waterfront Promenade (approx. 1.5 miles long) begins behind the Stockton Ballpark, running east behind the Stockton Arena, the University Plaza Waterfront Hotel, to Buckley Cove Park, turning south to the Weber Point Event Center.
On the Promenade, watch for spectacular “wind art” behind the ballpark, the ‘Stockton Rising’ sculpture near the hotel and the Fire Memorial in Buckley Cove Park. While touring Weber Point, look for the concrete outline of Captain Weber’s home that occupied the Point some 160 years ago (it’s at the southwest corner of the park)!
From Weber Point, stop to check out DeCarli Waterfront Plaza at Center and Weber, admire the historic Hotel Stockton, dating to 1910 and the fresh City Centre Cineplex, just to north (lots of good restaurants, too). Then, continue west on the Promenade on the south channel-shore; you will soon reach the historic Waterfront Warehouse, part of the Sperry Flour Mill empire (it contains several good restaurants), the new Marina, and to the far west, the Morelli Cove Boat Launch, under the I-5 bridge.

And, a great event that follows this route: Run and Walk Against Hunger, Thanksgiving morning, starting at the Stockton Ballpark at 8 AM (www.runagainsthunger.org
). No bikes allowed, but walkers and runners have a choice of 3.1 miles along the waterfront, or 6.2 miles for runners. Proceeds support the Emergency Food Bank; burn some calories and enjoy a scenic, energetic outing right in Stockton!
