A Free Presentation on California Public Records Access

The government collects vast amounts of information and generates much on its own.  Some of this is of concern to various citizens.  The California Public Records Act is the way this information can be accessed.  The San Joaquin County Chapter of the American Civil Liberties Union is presenting a free seminar on the California Public Records Act.  Paul Boylan, Esq., will be the speaker.  He has a J.D. from the King Hall School of Law at UC Davis.  He is an adjunct professor of law at the McGeorge School of Law in Sacramento and the University of Poitiers School of Law in France.  He is in private practice in Davis and among his specialties is public records.

The program will be held on Tuesday, September 17, 2013, from 7:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the Carcione Courtroom, Lawrence Drivon School of Law at Humphreys College, 6650 Inglewood Avenue, Stockton.

The program is free.  It is geared for the general public and not for lawyers.  It will cover California law and is not aimed at the Federal Freedom of Information Act.  The presentation will be of value to journalists, journalism students, community-based organizations, and people concerned about governmental transparency and understanding the way our local governments are actually operating.  All are welcome to attend this free presentation.
