The San Joaquin County Hispanic Chamber of Commerce is celebrating the 42nd Annual Business Awards & Installation Luncheon on Friday, June 27, 2014 at the University Plaza Waterfront Hotel in Stockton. Doors open at 11:15 a.m., tickets are $75 and include lunch. The program also includes the presentation of the new Board of Directors.
“Our local economy is in recovery and we are proud to recognize companies and individuals who have been committed to promoting a thriving business community,” stated Brenna Butler Garcia, CEO of SJCHCC. In 1972 the Stockton Mexican American Chamber of Commerce was formed by a group of business owners and individuals to help raise awareness for local Latino issues. The organization went on to serve as a sponsoring association for the California & United States Hispanic Chambers of Commerce. “For over forty years now this organization has remained at the forefront of issues that create a direct impact on our business members,” said Butler Garcia. “We are very proud to continue this tradition and as a voice for business we play an active role in advocacy efforts to ensure that the interests of our members are represented.”
Those that the chamber will honor this year include: Miguel’s Mexican Restaurant for Business of the Year; Roy Morales, for Volunteer of the Year; Food 4 Less/ Rancho San Miguel, for Corporation of the Year; Andrew Ysiano, Vice-Chair of the California Chambers of Commerce for Business Advocate of the Year; the League of United Latin American Citizens (LULAC), for Community Based Organization; and Dr. Ines Ruiz-Huston, Latino Community Outreach Coordinator for University of the Pacific for the John Aguilar Spirit Award.
The San Joaquin County Hispanic Chamber of Commerce (SJCHCC) represents the interest of approximately 250 members.
