City of Stockton Collide Festival Calls for Vendors and Exhibitors

The City of Stockton is now accepting local vendor and exhibitor applications for the Collide Festival that will take place on Saturday, October 19, 2019. Collide is a celebration, bringing our community together through the arts. The festival will showcase theater, music, fashion, spoken word, dance, painting, and a live art competition. The goal of the festival is to spark collaboration and inspire new combinations of cultural and artistic traditions.

Public Meeting Scheduled for Miner Avenue Complete Street Improvements

Members of the public are invited to a public meeting on Wednesday, August 28, 2019, 6:00 p.m. – 7:30 p.m. to learn about plans for construction of the Miner Avenue Complete Street Improvements Project. The meeting will be held at the Stockton Memorial Civic Auditorium, North Hall, 525 North Center Street, in downtown Stockton. Construction is scheduled to begin Spring of 2020.

First Invasive Aedes Mosquitoes Discovered In San Joaquin County

The San Joaquin County Mosquito and Vector Control District (District) has detected Aedes aegypti mosquitoes in Stockton. The first detection was from a sample of mosquitoes collected on August 6, 2019, in the vicinity of Brookside. “Our goal is to control and limit the presence of this invasive mosquito species,” said Ed Lucchesi, Manager of the District. “We are doing everything possible to ensure these mosquitoes do not become established in our communities; however, this type of mosquito can be very difficult to eliminate,” said Lucchesi.

City Takes Action To Close Six Dangerous Pallet Yards

The City of Stockton acted this morning to close six pallet yards that pose a significant threat to public safety, due to the volume of wooden pallets and how the pallets are stored. All six businesses were posted with cease and desist notices between 8:00 – 9:00 a.m. this morning and will not be allowed to continue operations until all fire, building and municipal code violations are addressed.
