The 28th annual Festival of Trees at the San Joaquin County Historical Museum is a unique Christmas celebration with more than 60 decorated trees, entertainment, children’s activities and make-and-take crafts, Santa visits, rides on a tractor-driven wagon, historical exhibits and food available for purchase.

Frances Richardson Announced As 2019 ATHENA Young Professional Leadership Award Recipient

It is with great pleasure, the Greater Stockton Chamber of Commerce announces the selection of Frances Richardson, as its 2019 ATHENA Young Professional Leadership Award recipient.  The ATHENA Young Professional Leadership Award is dedicated to recognizing the next generation of women leaders in San Joaquin County. The award honors an individual who has demonstrated excellence, creativity, and initiative in their business or profession; provides valuable service to improve the quality of life for others in her community; and clearly serves as a role model for young women personally and professionally. To be eligible the honoree must be younger than 40 years old on October 1, 2019.

Mural artwork has recently been completed by artist, Ilena Finocchi. The mural is located at the Fair Oaks Library, 2370 E. Main St, Stockton, CA 95205. The vibrant artwork spans the entire 30ft x 20ft curved wall near the library’s entrance. The mural highlights an octopus which has 3 hearts and nine brains and symbolically represents diversity, intelligence, complexity and insight. Out the the octopus’s hat emerges the creativity and imagination machine that is fueled by reading books.

Resurfacing Martin Luther King Jr. Blvd Begins Next Week

The City of Stockton will resurface a section of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., Blvd beginning next week. A new surface will be applied to both eastbound and westbound lanes from the west side of Lincoln St. to the east side of I-5. Crews will be working in the area starting September 18, 2019, and work will take place weekdays from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
