The Vietnamese Cancer Awareness Research Education Society (VNCARES) Committee and pharmacy students at the Thomas J. Long School of Pharmacy and Health Sciences will be hosting the Annual VN CARES Pacific Family Health Fair to provide FREE health services to the Stockton community. Furthermore, we will have activities geared towards teaching healthy living habits for all children.
Stockton residents will have access to health services such as blood pressure, blood glucose, cholesterol, and more. Pacific pharmacy students, under the supervision of licensed pharmacists, will provide these free health screenings and education to the under-served population. In addition, there will be activities for children of all ages about mindful eating, staying active, healthy lifestyle tips, and an art and essay contest. Last year the event attracted more than 300 attendees with over 150 patients, and this year we expect an even greater number of attendees as well as patients.
The purpose of VN CARES is to promote health issue awareness, knowledge, and preventative care in the Vietnamese community, in addition to creating opportunities for students interested in the health field to gain experience and work in the community.
