Thunder Acquire Rights to Dale

Forward Jason Dale completes the future considerations trade between the Stockton Thunder and the Fort Wayne Komets

The Stockton Thunder, proud ECHL affiliate of the NHL’s New York Islanders and AHL’s Bridgeport Sound Tigers announced today that the team has acquired the rights to Fort Wayne Komets forward Jason Dale as part of the future considerations deal that sent Mitch Bruijsten to Fort Wayne back on March 13.

“He’s a solid two-way player that can score,” Head Coach and Director of Hockey Operations Rich Kromm explained. “He does everything, kills penalties well, and is a very high energy player whose motor never quits.”

Dale, 25, only suited up in 25 ECHL contests last year, missing time due to injuries. He finished the year with 3 goals and 6 assists with the Evansville Icemen, Ontario Reign and Fort Wayne Komets.

The Toronto, Ontario native is no stranger to Coach Kromm having played for him in Evansville during the 2012-13 season where the forward played 70 games and finished with 16 goals, 23 assists and 39 points.

“He’s a real character guy and competes hard game-in and game-out, so he fits in with what we are trying to do here,” Kromm said. “He only played two games against us last year with Ontario but scored a shorthanded goal, which is what he does. He has great speed and is a pretty solid two-way player.”

Dale made his professional debut with the Utah Grizzlies and Bakersfield Condors in 2009-10. In 2010-11, the winger played in four contests with the Sound Tigers along with 63 games with the Bloomington PrairieThunder of the Central Hockey League, where he was named to the CHL’s All-Star Game.
