On Thursday, February 15, Jasmine Leek, Customer Engagement Analyst with San Joaquin Regional Transit District (RTD) received a Susan B. Anthony Women of Achievement Award by the San Joaquin County Commission on the Status of Women (SJCCSW).  The category for the award was “Young Feminist Under 30.”

State health officials report continuing increases in influenza (flu) related illness, hospitalizations and deaths. So far this season in San Joaquin County, Public Health Services (PHS) has received reports of six influenza outbreaks in long-term care facilities, twelve influenza-related intensive care unit admissions of persons under 65 years of age, and three flu- related deaths in persons under age 65.

City Studies Change to Property Owner-Only Utility Billing

On January 9, 2018, the Stockton City Council will study a proposed ordinance that would make property owners responsible for charges related to City-provided utilities. This change is being considered due to a significant increase in unpaid bills.  The January 9 meeting will be an introductory discussion; adoption of changes would occur at a future meeting.  Members of the public are welcome and encouraged to attend and provide ideas and information.

It’s cold at night. Imagine how much your blanket would mean to a homeless person / family at night.  Please donate clean used or new blankets at Computer Link, 4343 Pacific (Computer Link - corner of Pacific & Bianchi.).  This is an all volunteer effort and with your help, collects and distributes hundreds of blankets to the homeless on the streets at night and to children and families in homeless shelters.  Won't you please help?  Thank you.

RTD to Honor Veterans and Service Members with Free Rides

Beginning on Friday, November 10, 2017, San Joaquin Regional Transit District (RTD) will offer free rides on buses to U.S. veterans and active duty service members who possess a valid military-issued I.D.  Qualified service members may ride RTD for free anytime during a one-week period—from Friday, November 10 to Thursday, November 16, 2017.  

Salazar Celebrated for Breaking through the Bamboo Ceiling

San Joaquin Regional Transit District’s (RTD) Deputy CEO, Gloria Salazar, was honored as a woman who is “breaking through the bamboo ceiling” at the third annual women’s leadership event hosted by the Central Valley Asian-American Chamber of Commerce (CVACC).  Salazar, who oversees multiple departments at RTD, was selected by the CVACC Board and nominating committee because of her professional success and role as a leader in the community.
